My Parisian Home

We all have a bucket list we’d love to accomplish in our lifetime. Knowing when to take that leap of faith and say “yes” to our dreams can be overwhelming. Often, the timing is not right or we’re too scared to take that first step.

My dream has always been to live in France. I lived there in my early 20s and vowed that I would one day return to live there again. Last spring, my husband and I fulfilled this life-long dream of owning an apartment in Paris. It took 30 years and a lot of French paperwork, but we finally got the keys to our charming pied-à-terre in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.

The Left Bank

The Left Bank has always been my favorite section of the city, with its long boulevards and delightful cafes. Actually, the street I now call home is the one that I always thought was the most charming. I remember when we drove up to view the apartment, I gasped and held my husband’s arm, quietly saying “this is my street!” We made an offer on the spot. As they say, it was meant to be.

Video Demonstration: Handcrafted French Molding

Speaking of the renovation, here’s a little video of my French contractor Guillaume crafting custom plaster moldings, following the same millwork style which had been in the apartment years before.

Thank you for following along…now who wants to come to Paris and visit me?

À bientôt,
Sandra
